for the Study and Practice of Tibetan Buddhism

Turquoise Lake in Dzogchen Monastery

            May I be protector for those who have none,
            A guide for all travellers on the way;
            May I be a bridge, a boat, a ship
            For all who wish to cross the water.

     from Shantideva’s ‘A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’

The Mahasandhi Buddhist Group was established in the UK in January 2006, following a meeting in Brussels between the group founder members and lamas from Dzogchen Monastery, Tibet (Sichuan province, China). HH Pema Kalsang Rinpoche and Dza Mura Rinpoche expressed the wish that the Mahasandhi Buddhist Group should serve as a bridge, providing Western students with a unique opportunity of access to the ancient Dzogchen teachings. The group follows the Nyingma Tradition according to the lineage of Dzogchen Monastery, and our programme of study and practice is guided by these authentic Tibetan masters. The teachings of Buddhism can be practised equally well individually or in a group. However, group practice lends us tremendous support and power, especially while we are still familiarising ourselves with the path. The masters teach that the blessings generated in a group exceed those of individual practitioners meditating alone.
